Radio Swiss Classic has stopped working completely on my Sonos system. I contacted the station but they said they have not changed any settings or servers. I tried adding the URL manually into TuneIn and saved it as a favourite but it still does not show up on my Sonos system.

The original saved favourites from Radio Swiss are still there but do not play at all.

Please could you help me solve this issue. I am using the new updated Sonos app with my system plus I also use the desktop version on my Mac.

thank you and I look forward to your reply,

Chris

Are you trying to use the new SONOS app? My SONOS app on iOS has updated to the new version and I can no longer start Radio Swiss Classic from the SONOS app on iOS. Every time I try, it just either hangs or says, “Something went wrong.” However, if I use the old SONOS application on macOS, I can still start Radio Swiss Classic, which I had added manually as a SONOS Favourite using the links provided on https://www.radioswissclassic.ch/en/reception/internet

The new SONOS app appears to be an unmitigated disaster. I have no idea what SONOS were thinking when they withdrew the S2 app, which actually worked, and replaced it with the new app, which is hard to use and seems incapable of allowing you to stream Internet radio stations like Radio Swiss Classic. A fairly basic feature, you would have thought.

I followed the instructions here and have now managed to get Radio Swiss Classic to work from the new SONOS app on iOS: https://support.sonos.com/en-gb/article/use-tunein-to-add-internet-radio-station-urls-to-sonos

However I found I couldn’t sign in to the TuneIn website using Safari on my iPhone (in order to add TuneIn as a service to my SONOS system, which requires you to authorise TuneIn for SONOS) without disabling “Prevent Cross-Site Tracking” and “Hide IP Address” in the Safari page of Settings. I’ve turned them back on again after authorisation completed. I suspect it was the “Hide IP Address” causing the problem.

Hi and thanks for your reply.
I will try to do this and see if it works.
if’s a shame as you say the previous version was working just fine.

The new SonoS app is truly a disaster - and made worse by their obvious indifference to the huge fallout from existing owners. Anyone changing their router, swapping to a new mobile ‘phone, or moving house basically gets their expensive system turned into a heap of unusable junk because the app won’t recognise their system. They don’t seem to care.

Thanks for the Radio Swiss Classic guidance. I’ll give it a try.

I am having the exact same problem, ever since the ridiculous controller 'update'

Feedback on the remedial action suggested by SonoS:

This partly worked.

  1. Reset the SonoS controller by going into the SonoS app, select «Account» then «App Preferences» then «Reset App»
  2. Reset each appliance. How you do this varies, but generally involves powering-off, then powering on and at the same time pressing a button until the LED starts flashing orange.

After each reset, the appliance should materialise on the app’s list. So at least I’ve got my SonoS network back.

What I can’t do, however, is get Radio Swiss Classique back as a station in my favourites, as before. Or rather I can, but it says it isn’t authorised for my region (UK) - which is rubbish, because Radio Swiss Classic’s own app works fine. As does using any of the RSC streaming URLs with other devices, like my portable radio.

At best, I might be able to Bluetooth from my mobile into one of the BT-enabled appliances and then stream that across to my other devices if I want.

It’s a mess.

This gets more ridiculous every day.

I had a reasonably well established Sonos system operating pretty much faultlessly.

Along came an 'update' (I prefer to call it something else!) and a coach and horses has been driven through the system.

I wrote to the chief exec asking for an explanation and got a lame response from a bott telling me that all was well.

The internet and forums are full of complaints and confusion.

I feel like we've all been the victims of a massive scam committed by a bunch of out of control teenage geeks.

I'm going to give it 4 more weeks to see if it resolved itself.

If it doesn't, 12 speakers and a beam will be thrown into a skip (I believe they're known as dumpsters in America?)

Disgusting experience and it seems way beyond Sonos ability to solve.
