I’m unable to connect to any Sonos devices in my house.  The console on my Mac gives the following errors:

“### Ignoring device found without pairing ID: 61856318877894, 'Sonos Arc System'”,

 “APSAudioFormatDescriptionCreateWithCMFormatDescription:289: got error -6735/0xFFFFE5B1 kUnsupportedErr”,

“ptpClock_GetSynchronizedNetworkTime:560: false condition”,

“BAE <0x549B]  p0xA87D] ### APSNetworkClockConvertUpTicksToNetworkTime returned an error: -71974 for anchorTimeHostTime = 125263.270, anchorTimeHostTimeTicks = 3006318482364”,.

The one that concerns me is the one about the pairing id.   Is anyone else getting that message?  It appears that the lack of a pairing id is what’s preventing any of my Sonos devices from receiving Airplay(2) streams.

I have the streams set to ALAC, 24 bit, 48kHz, is that compatible with Arc?

Hi @Bob235178

Thanks for your post!

Sorry to hear of this issue you are having with AirPlay-ing to your Sonos speakers.

I don’t disagree with you about the pairing ID, but the “ptpClock_GetSynchronizedNetworkTime:560: false condition” message makes me think the issue may be that the devices cannot agree on exactly what time it is - this would prevent the connection from being made, as far as I understand it. As a result, I would like you to please reboot the router by switching it off for at least 30 seconds. I think it is probably also a good idea to reboot the Mac and the speakers afterwards.

If this does not help, I recommend you get in touch with our technical support team who have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your Sonos system and what it reports.

Arc will support 24 bit ALAC at up to 48KHz sampling rate, though I do not believe that Apple support lossless audio over AirPlay to non-Apple devices at 24 bit. The transmission of lossy audio to Arc instead would be handled automatically, however, so something should be heard. The best way to ensure the best playback quality is to initiate playback from the Sonos app, but if you are using AirPlay to get system audio from your Mac to Sonos, that won’t be an option.

I hope this helps.
