If I add an album from the local music library to the queue using the android app (play button, play now, replace queue, etc) on the now playing screen under the song name will be artist name - artist name. It will show this way on all devices now playing screens (andriod, ios, mac os).

But if I add an album using any other device or app (not andriod sonos app), the the now playing screen displays correctly under the song name, artist name - album name. It will also show correctly on the andriod app’s now playing screen.

I did a support chat which ended with them saying I should call support to report / escalate. Which I did. The support agent seemed to not care or didn’t believe me. Not sure which.

I would appreciate if someone could confirm this behavior.

I am sorry to hear you are experiencing an issue when adding an album from your Music Library via your android device, where the displayed name in the Now Playing screen is shown incorrectly.

We’ve tried but were unable to reproduce this issue, although I brought it up internally for further investigation. Someone will reach out to you on your ongoing Support case for more details.

What is the make and model of the android device you are using when experiencing this? Do you have another android device (smartphone/tablet) and see if you can reproduce the issue with that?

I am glad you were able to find a workaround by adding the album via a different (non-android) Sonos App.

I have three google andriod devices. Two phones and a tablet. Pixel 7a, Pixel 3a and Pixel Tablet 10. The 3a is used as a dedicated sonos controller. All three act the same. Adding to the queue with any of them results in the incorrect now playing screen. We also use the sonos app on 2 iphones, 1 ipad, and 2 mac os.

The music library is mostly flac files, although the problem occurs with mp3 files as well. My files do not use the “Album Artist” tag except for various artists / compilation albums. If I add a “Various Artists” album to the queue from an andriod, the now playing shows song artist - “Various Artists” (not the album name) under the song title. That same album added using a different device show song artist - album name under the song title.

I’m going to attach some screen captures. First an album added from the andriod app. The clear the queue and add the same album from the ios app. I’ll do that for a “Various Artists” album too. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

These are andriod screen captures followed by ios screen captures on the same now playing screens. The first two, album added by andriod. The second two, album added by ios. The next two, various artists album added by andriod. Followed lastly by various artists album added from ios.

I should probably add that you need to clear the queue between adding the same album. It seems that it doesn’t repopulate the queue if it’s already there.
