I purchased a Brennan Helix and now have this set up and playing my old CD collection through my Sonos System using the Sonos 1 app on windows pc and iPhone.  
 

i am trying to add the Brennan Helix player to my Sonos 1 app. So I hit manage top left on the Sonos app screen and go to music library settings and try to add a new library folder. Next drop down is add music folder so I select NAS drive.  I then have to type the path to my network share. I type \\BRENNANB2\music and then put the user name and passwords as requested (you get these from the Brennan website).  I then get a message saying Sonos was unable to add the music folder.

 

i can play any cd through Sonos Speakers direct from the Brennan Hellix player wirelessly so it’s connected over the network. I can see the Helix player on my home network.  I can even play the SD card through my Sonos speakers using the Brennan Helix app.  The Hellix app on iPhone is not that good so I want to be able to see my Hellix on the Sonos App just as I do with my windows pc but I’m struggling to get this done.

anyone else have a Brennan Helix and have found a way to add this folder to the Sonos 1 app ? 

 

 

So are you trying to hear a CD playing on the Brennan output to the Sonos speakers?  If so that is not possible.  

If you have stored CDs music files (could be WAV, MP3 or Flac etc) then Sonos will index them on all its speakers and they will then be playable but not for CDs playing.

 

The best method for playing CDs is to use a Sonos product with a line in (Era 100 and 300s, Port and Play 5s)

I have ripped my old CD’s onto a micro sd card which is in the Brennan Helix. I’m playing the music files wirelessly through my Sonos speakers controlling the music either from the front panel of the Helix or the Helix app. 
 

All seems to be working except I can’t see the contents of the SD  card on my Sonos app. I can see the contents of my music files on my laptop on the Sonos app and I thought I could do the same with the Brennan Helix. 
 

on the Brennan Helix web site they give you a pathway  \\BrennanB2\music with a username and password which I thought I could put on my Sonos app so that I could see the contents of the SD card in the Helix on the Sonos app just the same as I can access my music files on my laptop. 
 

im just happy I can now rip my old cd’s onto the helix and play them again so if I can’t get full workability I will just go with what I have which is a big improvement from before I had the Brennan Helix
