Hi everyone. Hopefully someone can assist me.
I have a number of issues with the playback with my system but today my question concerns the Sonos app.

The Brennan will send 20 music tracks to Symfonisk and start to play. The album art is displayed on the “now playing” page along with the Artist/Track information. However the queue does not show any information only 20 placeholders. Actually it does display the animated “playing” bars for the track now playing and advances to the next track when it should. If the artwork and track information is available to the “now playing” page why is it not showing in the queue?

I have tried the Windows app and it shows everything. The artwork and track information is clearly visible. I’m thinking it’s an app problem but is it a setting that I’ve missed? Any suggestions?

Hi @Conibubs

I’m sorry to hear that you’re having issues with your queue information not displaying.

I don’t think there’s any setting you’ve missed, but maybe a community user that has a Brennan can confirm. You mention that the the windows app shows everything, is this also with playback starting from the Brennan? If you try a different source, like a music service, does the queue show the correct artist and track information?

Also, if you can, please reply with pictures of the queue in both apps so I can check with the team and see if that can replicate.

I hope this helps!

Hi Jamie

Currently I’m only using the Brennan as music source. I have a couple of screenshots showing the situation. There’s one of the “now playing” page and one of the queue page.
These are from the Sonos app installed on my iPhone 14.

Thanks for taking a look.
Peter

Hi @Conibubs

Thanks for sharing the screenshots of the issue.

I’ve raised this with the team and they’d like to troubleshoot this further with you, as well as get more information. We aren’t able to test this ourselves as we don’t have a Brennan B3, so I have a few additional questions:

  1. Does this also happen on the Sonos Web App or is this exclusive to the mobile app?
  2. Can you start playback from the Sonos app, rather than the Brennan? If so, does the queue also fail to populate correctly?
  3. Are you able to check whether the Brennan is using UPnP or DLNA? If so, can you change what it uses?

They asked if you can record a short video of how you start playback with the Brennan. They’ve also asked to set up a case for you regarding this issue specifically, so if you could private message me with your name, your email address, and Sonos ID (you can find it in the app under Settings → General Settings → About Your System), then it can be picked up by the team.

As the issue is low in reports with just yours and there’s a backlog of issues, we can’t guarantee any ETA on when it will be resolved, but having a case will let you contact the team directly for troubleshooting and receive an update when it is resolved.

I hope this helps!

Hi Jamie

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you but I have had the broadband/wifi upgraded to full fibre which I had to wait for.

Also I had to investigate what DLNA is and how I might go about changing it. You will guess that I’m not savvy with this as I expect to plug things together and have them work. Anyway as far as I understand it the Brennan uses UPnP but can be changed to DLNA through the settings. I have no idea how to start playback from the Sonos app but I can confirm that the Sonos web app (windows) does not have the same problem. A video on how to start playback from the Brennan would be very short as a press on one button starts playback. This is a random selection of 20 tracks. The album art etc is sent to the app as it’s all visible on the “now playing” page, but not on the queue page.

I have been experiencing some issues with the actual playback of tracks and this turned out to be an issue with having the Symfonisk speaker too close to other devices. I have cured this by connecting the Brennan and Symfonisk via Ethernet. The operation and sound reproduction is excellent but it did nothing for the Sonos app queue.

Thanks for your patience.
