I have my Beam connected to the TV. I am seeing the beam “wallpaper images” cycle but nothing more. I am playing Spotify with my phone and connected to the Beam. Nothing showing what Spotify or any song display shows up on my TV. Why not?

The Beam doesn’t send anything other than that single image to the TV, it’s designed to receive sound data from the TV.

If you are playing Spotify through your phone or from the Sonos app, then nothing will display on the TV. The TV will only display a source played from the TV or from a streaming device connected to the TV. If you want to see Spotify displayed on the TV, you need to stream from the Spotify TV app.
