Hi

Is there a timeline for when atmos willbe available through airplay? I have to use the Sonos app to take full advantage of my music subscription and era 300s and, I mean no disrespect, the Sonos app is a far inferior experience for browsing music. I almost don’t want to use my speakers because of this.

So I guess I’d like to know if there is a timeline for either atmos through airplay or an improvement on the music browsing experience on the Sonos app. I’d be happy with either one.

For the app things like syncing favorites to Apple Music, lyrics wor would be great. Displaying artist’s top songs, then the albums instead of just a random list of albums songs and singles would be great too.

Sonos doesn’t provide timelines for anything other than product announcements. Likely as there’s a testing process involved in software, which may or may not be successful.

I would be surprised if Sonos allowed you to use AirPlay and by pass their app.

If they did, everyone would jump ship

But that is just my opinion as a commoner amongst Sonos greats

I mean, before using Apple Music for atmos, I NEVER used the Sonos app. Airplay was good enough for Spotify content. Just enabling atmos over airplay is enough

I would expect that, amongst all the other ‘things’ that are in process, it’s likely being worked on. Likely not P0 or P1, if you’re a programmer and familiar with the ‘jargon’ of priorities, but in the queue.

The challenge in my mind is ‘when’, not ‘if’.

And given the (intelligent) stance on not giving dates, which may or may not be met, causing an unnecessary backlash from consumers, I expect it will be along as soon as the work is done, integrated, and tested. Then run through a beta, to ensure it works on various setups. Then released to we in the general population.

For all I know, it could be already in beta, Sonos maintains a strict NDA over that. But in the meantime, I’ll continue to use Sonos’ own software, and wait, as patiently as possible, recognizing that the amount of effort to make this change is significant.
