After the new app update in May 2024, I can no longer play Apple Music on speakers. I have reauthorized the service numerous times. What happens is I can browse to a specific song, and when I hit play, it attempts to play for 5-10 seconds and then stops. On a playlist after hitting play, it will try to play the first 4-5 songs for 5 seconds each, shipping then to the get one, and then finally cycling back to the first song in the play list and stopping. No sound ever comes out in either case. Sonos radio, Amazon music, TuneIn are all working just fine. It’s specific only to Apple Music. Any troubleshooting assistance would be greatly appreciated!
I have the same issue streaming Apple Music.
it has became increasingly difficult to stream from Apple Music. Playback would fail intermittently, then more often, until now I am completely unable to play from Apple Music at all.
I have spent hours troubleshooting, doing factory resets, restarting the router, removing and reconnecting Apple Music, chatting with Sonos support, only to hear from the telephone support that there is some issue between Apple and Sonos. I was given no information about when the issue would be resolved.
The excellent hardware has been undermined by software updates removing functionality.
Very disappointed
I too am disappointed beyond words that a system that worked very well has been totally destroyed with the arrogance and total disregard for customers, their support, and above all, product satisfaction. I was hoping after the recent corporate flowery BS words from the CEO that the latest release of app and hardware would put all this nightmare behind us, but guess what? my system is as useless as it was under the last release. Shocking and a disgrace to all of us very loyal, hard working customers who have spent our money with them in good faith; only to be kicked where it hurts!
Best of luck in getting your music system to work again. GC

Thanks for the good luck wishes, GC.
At the moment it seems it will be luck. Sonos support have replied to an email of mine, but without any details of the issue or timeline for resolving the issue.
On https://status.sonos.com Apple Music is “operational” but on my system is most definitely is not. It is really frustrating not to be able to use the speakers the way Sonos claim they work.

Sorry to hear you are still having issues, as am I.
There was an update this week which I hoped would magically fix this musical nightmare, but alas, I’ve been disappointed.
I have now removed my Sonos Ones from my system and am using only the Moves and things seem more stable. I can’t fathom why a pair of “fixed” and powered speakers could destabilise my entire network but they appear to!?
Sonos continues to be the worst music kit I’ve ever owned which is a shame, as until the last six months, it came top of my list of go to kit, so apologies to all those I’ve recommended it to on behalf of Sonos who have single handedly, scored the own goal of all own goals! Sad.
Same issue. I changed the room name of my Era 100 and it fixed the problem.
I have similar issues when trying to play songs from Apple Music whereby the MACOs controller tells me that the connection to Apple Music has been lost before moving onto the next song to only report the same thing.
in my investigations of this though I have found an interesting aspect that may be of some use to those trying to fit the problem. I have a sonos system that includes two pairs of the old sonos one speakers and a separate sonos roam speaker. The above problem appears whenever I try and play anything form Apple Music to the pairs of sonos one’s, however if I first try and play Apple Music to the sonos roam on its own, it works ok and then I can group it with the the sonos one’s it they all play the music ok.
removing the sonos roam from the grouping brings the problem back and the sonos one’s then fail to play the music again. clearly the new app needs to have my sonos roam as a lead speaker in a group to make the sonos one’s work as they should.
Nothing in the planned updates for the App suggests that this issue is on the radar of SONOS (unless it’s somewhere under general stability) and I would dearly like to see someacknowledgement of this type of problem and a plan to fix it.

I too have this issue with my pair of older ones. I’ve removed them from my system of Moves and it is now much more stable. Not perfect but at least streams AM for more than a track or two now.
I’m hoping that my two Ones are going to be supported and updated soon but like you, can’t see an issue reported or slated for repair.
If I reintroduce the Ones, it freezes.

Same for me so why aren’t Sonos responding to all these issues posted? CEO of Sonos you should be embarrassed by these posts it’s your job to do something about it!
Same issue here. Factory resetting the One and adding it back to the system solved the issue
Same issue here. Just spent $3k on a bunch of brand new Sonos CRAP! (Move 2, Era 100, Sub Gen 3 and Arc). The older stuff I have on my S1 system still works fine, so I definitely wasn’t expecting this. I’m flabbergasted and shocked that they are allowed to sell such expensive products to the public that don’t even frickin’ work?!?! So now, not only do I have a bunch of new useless crap that I can’t pair with my old equipment, it doesn’t even play Apple Music on the new equipment. I read through this whole string of messages hoping to eventually find someone that had gotten this issue resolved, but to no avail. Sonos is the worst! This ***** is going back!

Same issue with an Era 100
When is the fix for the Apple music snafu coming. Not being able to play Apple Music over the Arc and E300 speakers stinks. Everything worked until the May total app rebuild. When is Sonos going to come through for its customers? For God’s sake its almost September. It looks like once you have our money, too bad for us. Shame on Sonos!
This sounds like the same issue those of us who use Amazon Music as our streaming service through the Sonos app are currently having. I was *just* about to sign up for a trial of Apple Music when I stumbled across this discussion - making me think the problem is more widespread across several streaming services + Sonos.
Here’s my problem, in detail:
I mostly listen to whole albums, rather than individual tracks or playlists. I have many albums from Amazon Music Unlimited saved in my “favorites” list in the Sonos app. As of this past week, whenever I select an album and hit play, it usually plays the first few seconds of the track, but then starts skipping forward to other tracks in order. Sometimes it skips several tracks, sometimes it starts playing in the middle of a track, but then stops before skipping to the next. It will do this until it reaches the end of the album (usually within a minute or so), without having played ANY track to its entirety.
I have tried any number of solutions: restarting my router(s), reconecting Sonos products to my network, re-authorizing Amazon Music within the app, removing albums from favorites and trying to play from a simple search… nothing seems to fix the issue. Amazon support was of no help because they kept wanting me to configure things within the Alexa app, and I do not use Alexa. Sonos + Amazon Music has always worked well for me in the past several years - until this week when it essentially stopped working at all.
I seem to have stumbled across a possible solution to this issue:
Open both Sonos and Apple Music apps
Play a song in Apple Music then airplay it to your sonos speaker
Open Sonos app and them play the next song in the album/playlist
This seemed to fix the Sonos apps’ loading spiral of doom for me and I can now play directly from the Apple Music tab of the sonos app - and finally have working Dolby atmos music!
There was a new app update today which works better for me. Plays AM on my moves and gen1 1s. It has frozen once after three hours of playing and the app seems much more responsive and quicker. It’s still not there but anything is an improvement on the past months of woe!
Have you tried the update?
Here's how Apple Music works now through the Sonos app on the Era 300:

Unable to play "I Hope You Know" - the song was not encoded correctly.

It also does not work on Sonopad.
