Question

Apple Music w/ Airplay and Connect:amp & Roam

I have a Sonos Roam (first generation) and a Sonos Connect:Amp (maybe 1st gen).

When using the Sonos App - I can see both the amp and the roam, and control music. Things work flawlessly beyond the app being horrific.

When using spotify directly - I can see both the amp and the roam and control music. This experience works the best.

When using Apple Music - I can ONLY see the roam, and control music. I can’t see to get it connected to the amp.

I have tried normal troubleshooting steps (restarting amp, etc), however nothing have been able to work. I’m trying to transition from Spotify to Apple Music.

Any ideas to fix? Does the amp just not work with airplay but spotify is able to work around it?

Hi @bradhr

Welcome to the Sonos Community!

Sorry to hear about the issue you are having with playing Apple Music to your Sonos Connect:AMP, but you are correct: the Connect:AMP simply does not support AirPlay.

You can, however, target the Roam within AirPlay, and then use the Sonos app to group the Connect:AMP with the Roam, so that it plays too. Generally, we recommend only ever targeting one Sonos device with AirPlay and allowing Sonos to perform the distribution.

You can also initiate playback from within the Sonos app, as you have discovered.

I hope this helps.
