Apple Music uploads won't play on Sonos

I have a music library on a NAS server consisting of ripped CDs and digitised vinyl.  All of these do play happily with some buffering via Music Library on Sonos.  I have recently started using Apple Music and have synced all the NAS music into Apple Music.  On my Sonos app on the Mac, it is all available and playable through Apple Music, but on the iPhone and iPad apps the album artwork and title is displayed but the tracks are all greyed out and unplayable.  If I hit play on the desktop app, the player shows up on the iPhone and iPad apps.  Does anyone have any ideas why the tracks aren’t available on the apps?

Hello @CarolannW, welcome to the Sonos Community!

I am sorry to hear you are experiencing an issue when using the Sonos App on your iPhone and iPad and trying to access the uploaded music content in the Apple Music.

From the information you provided, I understand that you’ve enabled Sync Library for your Apple account, is that correct?

You can have a look in the Apple FAQ and confirm, from the following link: Use Sync Library with your Apple Music subscription.

I would also suggest you make sure all the relevant applications are up to date with the latest software version.

If you are still unable to see the uploaded content on your iPhone and iPad, but can see it on your Mac, please Submit Diagnostics and reach out to our Support Team for live troubleshooting.

I hope this helps.

Thank you for the replies. On further research, and discussion with both Sonos and Apple, I gather that my original files need to be converted from FLAC on the NAS to AAC or MP4. Apple Music is set to do this on import but the volume of music tracks/albums is very high so it’s taking forever to convert, upload and match the information. I think that is why there is so much unavailable on Sonos for now. I am letting Apple Music do its thing over the next few days and will hopefully resolve the issues.
