Apple music services not working

Why has my Apple Music streaming services stopped working on my Sonos system? Is someone working on a fix for this? I have been listening to Apple Music on sonos for years without any issues, but all of a sudden I’m not able to stream from Apple. Amazon works fine.

Right now there is an official issue with Apple Music on Sonos.

Have you removed Apple Music from your Sonos, waited two minutes, then reconnected Apple Music, forcing a new handshake with the Apple servers?

Have you called Sonos Support directly to discuss it?

I also have the same problem, Sonons and Apple Music have a very bad connection and the connection is constantly lost, so listening to the music is not possible. All other services work perfectly (Sonons Radio + TUNEIN).

What did Sonos Support say, when you contacted them?

I tried this to no avail. Haven’t called Sonos yet

Interesting, and slightly disturbing. I’ll be interested in what response Sonos gives you.

I chatted with Apple but they weren’t much help. I’ll try Sonos help next.

I spoke with Apple who said I must be having some issue with Apple services. They said it might be my battery since I had it replaced with a non-Apple battery about 6 months ago. This conclusion after much trial and error, unplugging everything, updating software, etc. Nothing worked so my next step was to get an Apple battery. Then, lo and behold, everything started working fine and I have no idea why. Apple Music plays fine on Sonos with no connection problems. Go figure.

Certainly not the answer I was expecting…and have no explanation for. But I’m glad it was resolved for you!

I have the same problem.

I contacted Sonos support and after submitting them the system diagnostic file, I received the following disturbing answer:

“Thank you for trying this and for your valuable feedback. Please know that Apple is aware of this issue and is actively working to resolve it. We appreciate your patience and understanding as they address this.

Please rest assured that I will tag your case with the issue, and when the issue is resolved an update will fix the issue. Currently we do not have an estimated time for that.”

Unbelievable!!!

I was also having trouble with Apple Music and TuneIn stations when I tried to use the S2 app on macOS (latest version 16.4.2) for the first time in a month or so. Each time I attempted to choose Apple Music in the Mac S2 app it asked me to reauthorize. I would do that then would see no music listed under Apple Music. A message to the effect of “unable to browse music” was displayed.

While this was happening I could play Apple Music or TuneIn stations through Alexa; just not through the S2 app. I could also play Apple Music on my Mac using the Apple Music app.

Even though macOS S2 *appeared* to allow me to reauthorize, it did not work. Somehow I figured out I could use the iOS app to reauthorize Apple Music and TuneIn. Once I did that and I restarted the Mac app, it worked.

I have mostly resorted to using Alexa to start and stop music. That generally works. S2 has been around a long time now, but it’s only now barely reaching beta quality, IMO.
