Hi all

wnen I use the Sonos app to play Apple Music the last played songs and albums etc are not showing up and syncing on the actual Apple Music app therefore not going to my replay for the month. I have listening history on for the music app. Is there anything else I need to do within the Sonos app side?

Hi @Daymo2007

I’m sorry to hear you’re having issues with your recently played not updating.

I’ve given this a try on my end using Spotify to see if I can replicate it. If I start playback in the Sonos app, it takes at least an hour to show in the Spotify app on mobile, the Spotify desktop app still hasn’t updated for me so this may take longer. I’d assume this would be the same behaviour with Apple Music and other services.

If you play from the Sonos app using Apple Music, can you check both the iOS and Mac versions of Apple Music to see if anything shows in recently played. Again you might have to wait at least one to two hours before it shows in Apple Music’s recently played.

If it takes hours to show up, or doesn’t show up at all, then please let me know and I can follow up with the team about this.

Hi James.

after speaking with Support on chat this morning by removing the Spotify account and then re-reactivate it via the Sonos app enabled us to see the listing history within one minute of it being played I have double checked this using the stats.FM app which also shows up in the recents and in the recent section of the Spotify app.

The issue was not so easy to solve when using Apple Music for example I have checked and 24 to 48 hours later still nothing is showing up in the listing history in the official Apple Music app or the iPad app if I play something using an Apple device it shows up instantly however Sonos does not show up at all. This was only realised when I checked my replay for last month and it told me there was not enough listening hours which meant that everything that I had listened to via Sonos have not been added to my Apple account. I feel that there was an issue with the way that Sonos and the API be used To access Apple Music is not syncing correctly as it should be

as you can see nothing has updated on the Apple Music app itself, but has done via recently played on the Sonos app

as you can see here it’s updating what has been played via Spotify connect instantly as it should. Now testing on the Sonos app itself won’t show as currently playing but after a song has been played it does show as recently played within a couple of minutes.

as you can see here we have pulled a track from Apple Music using the Sonos app itself to support Dolby atmos

But nothing showing up on the Apple Music app

Also not everything you play on Apple Music shows up on Sonos recently played as well. Seems to be a definite issue with syncing data across eg when playing a station on Apple Music this doesn’t show up on recent only if you play an album or playlist

Same issue here in the last couple of weeks.

Hi @Daymo2007 and @youthdancing, apologies for the delay in getting back to you.

Thank you for the screenshots and information, they’ve helped our team investigate this further. They were able to replicate this after testing, so a bug report has been created and I’ve tagged this thread as having the issue. I don’t have an ETA to share on when this will be resolved, but if I hear any more information I’ll reply here with it.

From our testing, it looks like this only occurs when using the Sonos App, so a workaround for the time being would be to use AirPlay or Bluetooth if you have any speakers that support it.

Hi Jamie.

yes of course AirPlay is a workaround, but using AirPlay you lose Dolby atmos functionality and lossless audio so it’s a mixed bag when it comes to what you lose and gain. Thanks for logging the issue.

Everything works fine when use Alexa to play music. Sync with Apple music works good.
No sync if playing music in Sonos app.

Yes that’s it. And Alexa doesn’t play lossless on any service on Sonos only via Sonos voice.

Just wondering if anyone has received any updates from Sonos on this issue? I’m new to the ecosystem and was disappointed to see that I can’t listen to my Apple Music content via the Sonos app without losing out on the listening history for my Apple Music Replay.

Finding this thread makes it seem like this is a new issue so hopefully it can be fixed soon!

@KentThree30 i believe @Jamie A has logged this with tech!

Any update on this? I think it stopped working back in December.

@Jamie A had a meeting this week and said he would ask if any update but has also stated they don’t normally give a time scale on a fix. I’m sure there are a few people who want this fixed at the earliest.

@Jamie A Could you please provide an update on the resolution to this issue?

HI @rastallp et al,

I don’t have any update on this, and my last post remains much of the same.

The team is still looking into this and if I hear anything I’ll update this thread. If anyone has reached out to support to log a case with them, you’ll also receive a follow up email once resolved. I would recommend calling to log a case with the team if you haven’t already as this helps boost the case count the issue has, the more cases tagged against an issue the higher priority it becomes.

To set expectations, I don’t have an ETA to share on when this will be resolved, and I probably wont have any news until this is resolved: you’ll most likely see the issue resolved in the app yourself before I reply to this thread once it is fixed.

Came here because I have the same problem and it’s so frustrating. I have a PLAY:3 and so I can’t even use AirPlay or Bluetooth to my speaker because it doesn’t have that capability.

With all the nonsense Sonos has been going through the past 12 months, I doubt this’ll ever get fixed. This company’s quality has gone downhill in the worst way.
