In the past could have days every attempt to do anything in the Sonos app times out.  It doesn’t read my record player anymore, and the simple task of changing music preferences times out.

I have fantastic internet.. so it’s not me.   What’s happened?   I really don’t want to go through another badly planned upgrade.

Why continue using the Sonos app.. when there are apps that are excellent and you don’t have to do the Sonos app updates that have issues.

Looking at your profile, I see that you still have a Boost. Your Era speakers are not compatible with SonosNet so the Boost is useless to them. Remove it and conned all your speakers wirelessly to your network/router.

I suspect you have a local network issue.

I’d agree with the above, but change ‘conned’ to ‘connect’ (I suspect an autocorrect there).

I’d also suggest a network refresh, by unplugging all your Sonos devices from power, then rebooting your router. Give the router a couple of minutes to come up, then plug in your Sonos devices. Wait another two minutes, then test the system, playing music first, then trying the update.

For what it’s worth (nothing), I had no issue at all with the update.

By the way, if the above works, I’d certainly look into how to reserve IP addresses in your router, it should be explained in the manual.

Thank you all!   I will give it a shot.
