Case in point.

Exactly (but not for the reasons you think).

I'm sure the Google Sonos lawsuit has nothing to do with it....  😉

It's really a bummer how the user suffers to the interest of bitter corporate greed and competition.

Market is getting wider and great speaker companies popping up everywhere. Might be time for me to switch.

I would really like this feature to come back on android.... i definately dont plan on investing any more intp sonos with how features seem to lessen with time

Another vote for the return of this feature - if possible.

If not possible, Sonos folks

  • please update this thread to say so
  • please update the webpage “Control Sonos from the Android Lock Screen” where it states

Sonos app version 80.0

This feature is not currently available in the Sonos app for Android, but it will return in a future update.

Thank you

When is this feature coming back? My Spotify app does it perfectly so I don't see why Sonos can't do te same.

Come on Sonos, fix this. This is taking way too long.

To be fair, the Spotify app is an audio app - it generates actual audio data, so system volume control makes sense.

The Sonos app is NOT an audio app - its a remote control and generates no audio data. To the phone it has no concept of volume.

Hey Devs add this back. Can't believe they would remove a standard media app feature 🤦‍♂️

Sonos is not a media app.  The app can’t/doesn’t play anything, all the player logic is in the Sonos hardware.

They had it before with the older better app....  🤔

Then the platform owners changed the rules.

Having the controls is no help if the Sonos App isn't available in the App stores.

Getting the controls back would be good.

This response is pedantic.  No it doesn't natively play the media, but it is the controller through which you interface with the speakers that play music. In my book that’s still a media app.  Furthermore this ignores the fact that app was fully capable of this functionality previously.

Sadly your book isn't the App Store owners book, and their book sets the rules for what an App can do. In this case they changed their book, what was allowed is no longer allowed. Don't follow their book and your App is no longer available in the store.

You need to take your argument to Apple and Google, who make the rules, not Sonos which must follow them.

SONOS!!! THIS IS A BASIC FEATURE EVERY ANDROID APP HAS... WHERE THE HELL IS IT????

I really need the Android Sound controls in the notification bar and lock screen. It's a pain in the a*s to open the Sonos app to go to the next song.

Perhaps asking Google to make an exception to the rule that changed that forced Sonos to do this might help? My guess is Sonos already asked for an exception from both Google and Apple, but maybe if they both hear more requests?

Adding my vote as well. Spotify App supports this for ages. Can please Sonos supports the Live Notifications Updates API provided by Android? Opening the app for basic control such as changing songs is really annoying

Don't add your vote here, add it at Google where the change was dictated from.
