Hi, my first post and previous threads on this topic were either old or had comments turned off so here goes.  Although working well, none of my collections album art shows on the Android app.  The build is 80.11.33 and previous posts/comments seem to infer that rolling back to a previous version would solve the issue.  So my question is: has anyone solved the issue or is reverting to a previous build the answer?  I suppose if the answer is yes then the remaining question is how is this achieved?

I'm also on android, sonos s2 latest version 80.11.33.
No album art at all since the new app (it displayed fine on the old brown icon app).
What's worse is that sonos support (chat) tells me that album art IS supported on android and to re-imbed the album art. I have followed those sonos instructions perfectly and still no album art.
The exact same music library (network folder with my music) albumart does display perfectly in Bluesound, BubbleUPnP, mConnect lite, and other android music apps, and also displays fine in the sonos windows app.
Sonos support is claiming that albumart IS supported on android. I believe otherwise.

The same here, every Android app on my phone displays album art perfectly, as do windows apps and even the headunit in my car, only in Sonos are they missing.  It is surprisingly disappointing as I tend to rely on the images rather than text to locate music.  Do you happen to know if a previous version would likely work and if so how to roll-back?

Album art for local libraries has been broken since the release of the new app in May, on Android only.

https://github.com/amp64/sonosbugtracker/issues/28

There seems to be zero interest in Sonos fixing this, I can only assume the necessary http-override is not possible in the framework the Android app uses.

It was only added to the official Trello board 3 days ago and is listed as “Coming Soon”.

From Nick Millington’s October Office Hours answer in Reddit:

”As another example which we haven’t talked about before, the reason why album art for local music libraries doesn’t work on Android is because we’re now using the built-in Android HTTP client, and its behavior (enforced at a very low level) is to block connection to non-SSL resources, and the Sonos players don’t serve album art for songs in a local library over SSL yet.”

I was wondering whether these explanations also apply to the missing album art & alarm control on android lock screen ?

Prior to ‘the new app’ when an alarm played on my Roam speaker (playing a spotify playlist), on the lock screen album art was displayed (I think with song title & artist) AND there were controls to control the alarm (eg silence it).

This is the exact reason I listed months ago, my question is why Sonos still haven’t figured out how to get around this Android limitation. It took me about four hours to fix this in my Android experimentation, Sonos are about to hit the six month period for not figuring it out.

ANDROID devices Album Art:

Guess i will have to stop recommending SONOS products to my fellow android friends.

I could see the album art before this horrific upgrade and have been waiting, like others, for the fix to come out…

I think I have given enough time for SONOS to get it together.  It’s a shame, the app worked so well before. I had people over that took pictures of the screen of my tablet in my game room when they heard a song they liked. But without the album art I’m somewhat embarrassed about it.

NOT a good thing, SONOS.

Okay. So I have read through pages of comments and complaints. Seems like I am having the same problem as everyone else, album art has not showing up on my android device since the new software was released. To be clear, is anyone able to get the artwork to show up?  Did I miss the "fix" as I was reading all of the comments?

I don’t think you have missed any updates, Mike. They are done automatically, and I have been keeping track of them since this Android app fiasco began.

I gave a friend permission to try it on his iPhone at my home and it worked fine on his phone, displayed all the album art in my library. But my Android phone and tablet are still not displaying any of my library artwork.

The desktop app works fine won my Windows 11 workstation. But that does not help me or others like me using Android devices.

Seems SONOS has made iPhone it’s priority.

I truly thought, in the beginning, that SONOS software engineers were smarter than the now seem to be.

I will be exploring other options for my game room music upgrade. My SONOS speaker will be relegated to a shelf in my dusty garage soon...

You can track some issues on the Sonos / Trello, the Library artwork for Android is mentioned.

I see the issue listed on the tracker board under the heading “coming soon”.  They are obviously aware of the issue, so unfortunately waiting to see how quickly (if ever) the problem is resolved is all we can do at this time.  I am not going to sell my current system, but I certainly am not adding any new hardware to it and I have stopped recommending Sonos to others.

 . . . . Seems SONOS has made iPhone it’s priority.

I  don’t think that is the case.  I have iPhone and iPad, both with the lates update from 15 November and I can’t eeven access my Music Library from either.  Windoew app sees it perfectly and the mobile devices can even initiate a re-scan and when I watch the NAS connections I can see the devcices accessing the tracks.  Ic an even control music which was selected using the Windows app,  But on the mobile devices the “Your Sources” option steadfastly refuses to show me the Music Library 😓

Six months later and still no media library cover art on Android. Owner of 20+ Sonos devices and probably would be upgrading two Playbars to Arc Ultras, adding another Sub, and getting the Ace headphones. Guess these guys don't want more business. I'll be sticking with my existing Sonos equipment because of this app fiasco. Yesterday used my Sonos speakers all day long using the Windows App. No issues. Grouped about 10 speakers together to play Christmas music thru house for wife. Played all day flawlessly as I picked various Spotify artists. Went out to living room to watch TV so pulled out Android phone to pause the grouped speakers. After the app did its little search I could pick the grouped speakers but app says no music playing. I have to get up and go to a speaker in the group and hit pause. Beautiful, not!

Ok, so.... Latest update has enabled album art MOSTLY. Like, if you access the music library by album or artist, all seems fine.

However, if you view it by folders things aren't quite so good. The art shows up for individual files once you have navigated to and selected an album, but does not appear in either the album list OR as the main art when within the album (see images).

Is anyone else experiencing this, or am I the only one who browses by folder??

I see what you are saying and I am experiencing the same situation on my Pixel phone.  Fortunately, I usually look for music through either Albums, so for me personally, things are in much better shape!

Album Art still not showing on my Andriod after recent update. I deleted and re-added the music folder on my Desktop but artwork not displayed. Am I doing anything wrong?

Similar experience here. Art is showing when selecting the files, but not while playing. Most of my music is in lossless flac. I find that art that is embedded in MP3s works, but art stored as JPG in the folder is not

I just posted this elsewhere but can’t work out how to set up a link to that post, so apologies for repeating it here.  My (Android) experience is positive, but their testing/quality control just keeps on letting things slip through and here’s another…

Great, as an Android user, to get my Album Art back!  Not only is it back, but I think the Library probably scrolls quicker than it did under the old app, so good work by the developers. Thanks, guys.

However, things are still not quite there yet.

Where Songs within an Album have different Album Art (so this is another angle on the old compilation albums issue), the Art shown in the Library listing is not the Folder.jpg you would expect it to be.  Neither is it the Art from Track 1 of the album, which would be the logical second option.

What shows up is the Art from the Song whose Artist’s name comes first in alphabetical order within the Album!

This makes no sense at all, but can probably be sorted out pretty easily in the code.  Any bets on how long it might take?
