amp - Sonos App and Music services

I read this, but it's not true.
I can't use any app on my device to listen to music.

We designed the Sonos platform to work seamlessly across all the touchpoints you use to control your home. Start a song from an app. Pause from your universal remote when someone rings the doorbell. Set a sleep timer in the bedroom that stops the music and turns the lights out. Use the giant living room TV to create a visual counterpoint to the music. The Sonos platform lets you build integrations to control and follow the sound everywhere.

What is ‘your app’? Is it one presented by Sonos when you go in to the controller and press on the Plus next to ‘Your services’? Sonos uses the location you’ve set in your account (accessed at www.sonos.com) to filter that data. If you’re a developer setting up a new stream to be included in the Sonos ecosystem, the link provided by ​@controlav is correct. 

I suggest you take a look at the link. If your service is not listed (which Sonos pays a licensing fee) then you need to follow the advice of ​@controlav . Assuming you have the knowledge/skills to do so.

Thank you for your attention,
but for me, not being a programmer, it's still impossible to program.
If anyone wanted to do it... (I'm kidding) I don't see it as that simple.

​@cayprose You do not need to be a programmer, you just ad a music service to Sonos. Where do you go wrong when following the link? What music service do you want to play?

If a service you listen to is not available in the Sonos app, or Sonos is not available to play to in the service’s app, then you need to contact the service themselves and lobby them to go to the developer’s link listed above.  Sonos allows any service who wishes to be added to join the Sonos Partner’s program and add themselves to the Sonos app, or play direct to Sonos devices via the service’s own app.  But the service themselves must take the initiative by going to the above developer's link posted by ​@controlav and joining the program.  Sonos does not (nor could they) unilaterally add a service to their support structure without the service themselves soliciting the partnership.

No, Sonos PAYS a licensing fee to make it available on their platform. However, any one using a service has to have their own subscription be it free or upgraded tier.

I don’t think that’s universally true for all the music services you can stream through Sonos.  In many cases, the agreement between Sonos and the streaming service is at no cost to either party.  We don’t have knowledge of those agreements to really answer the question either way though.

I thought I read somewhere that they did pay. However I stand corrected.

It may have changed, but the last time I read the Sonos Developer's agreement, no fees or payments take place between either party to add or maintain a service, either by adding to the Sonos app or adding Sonos direct play functionality to the service's own app.  This has also been repeatedly stated by Sonos reps on this forum.  The only licensing I know of is between Sonos and Apple for use of the proprietary Apple Airplay function.

The app I use to listen to music that I'd like to have in my list of services is : MELD
not a paid app.

As said way up at the top, have them contact Sonos to get added to the available services.
