Amazon Music Unlimited in Sonos only shows a very small fraction of available albums

for approximately one week, I have been experiencing a reproducible issue with Amazon Music Unlimited in the Sonos app:

For all artists and performers I have tested, Sonos App on Iphone only shows a very small fraction of the albums that are actually available.

In the Amazon Music app itself, a much larger and apparently complete selection is available. My Amazon Music Unlimited subscription is active, and the missing content can be accessed and played there without any problems.

The issue is especially noticeable with audio drama / radio play series, where Amazon Music contains a large number of episodes or releases, while Sonos only shows a small subset of them.

The problem occurs consistently across all artists I have tested and started approximately one week ago.

I have already tried the following without success:

  • Removed Amazon Music from Sonos
  • Added the Amazon account again
  • Re-authorized the Amazon Music service

Reconnecting the Amazon account did not resolve the issue.

This is not a case of a few individual albums being missing. The entire album selection for an artist is severely incomplete in Sonos, while the same content is available directly in Amazon Music.

This appears to indicate an issue with the catalog retrieval, pagination, or presentation of Amazon Music content within the Sonos integration.

Could you please investigate whether there have been any recent changes or known issues with the Amazon Music integration, and why Sonos is currently only displaying a small subset of the available albums for artists and series?

Hi @drebin, welcome to the Sonos Community!

I’m sorry to hear that you’re having trouble viewing all of an artist's catalogue in the Sonos app.

We shared this with the team who reached out to Amazon for more information, who in turn let us know that their new UI within the Sonos app displays content differently from how it used to. Now, when you go to an Artist’s page, it will show five albums, then other recommendations from that artist (such as top tracks, top albums, releases, etc.) They also said that there is a container/folder in the Artist’s page called Releases which shows all Albums from said Artist.

If you do not see the Releases container/folder within the Artist page, then could you please provide a screenshot of the page and let me know.

I hope this information helps!

The same issue also occurs in the Sonos Web App, not only in the native Sonos app. This makes a local app or device issue unlikely and suggests that the problem is somewhere in the server-side Amazon Music integration, such as catalog retrieval, pagination, caching, or processing of the Amazon Music API response.

Unfortunately, I don’t think Amazon support lives in these forums. I agree with your analysis, so you’ll likely need to contact Amazon to get it fixed.

There is a semi related issue, which does appear to be Sonos’, however, details can be found here:

Looks like the ‘updated’ Amazon SMAPI service imposes a 25 item limit on some queries for some reason.

Been trying various Amazon things, most seem to work once you figure them out.

One oddity (so far) is the Amazon Station for Rex Allen. It will play normally to start but stops, with no error after a few minutes. Every other station I've tried, only about six, has worked as expected without stopping.

Interesting fellow, you probably have heard him, even if you haven't heard of him.
