Question

Amazon Music playlists now capped at 100/225 tracks on Sonos, this needs an official answer

Something has clearly changed in the Amazon Music → Sonos integration in the past 2 months, and it’s breaking the way many of us use Sonos.

I have multiple Amazon Music playlists with 500+ songs. For years, Sonos handled them without any issue:

  • Sonos S1 loaded full playlists.

  • Sonos S2 loaded full playlists.

  • The Sonos Windows app could load all 500+ tracks, even when mobile apps had limits.

Now, suddenly:

  • S1 loads only 300 tracks.

  • S2 loads only 225 tracks.

  • Anything beyond that simply disappears from the queue.

  • The Windows app no longer bypasses the limit.

This is not an Amazon Music problem — the playlists are complete and playable everywhere except Sonos. It’s not a device problem — it happens across S1, S2, and Windows. It’s not a user error — I’ve tested multiple playlists, multiple accounts, multiple devices.

I’ve contacted Amazon support. No solution. I’ve tried third‑party apps. No solution. I’ve searched the forum. Only scattered complaints, but clearly the issue is new and tied to recent changes.

At this point we need clear, official information:

  1. Has Sonos introduced new playlist size limits for Amazon Music?

  2. Has Amazon changed the way playlists are delivered to Sonos?

  3. Are these limits intentional, accidental, temporary, or permanent?

  4. Is there any plan to restore full playlist loading (500+ tracks), especially through the Windows app which previously worked flawlessly?

This is a major regression for anyone who uses large playlists — something Sonos has supported for years.

We need transparency and a timeline. If this is a bug, please confirm it. If this is a new limitation, please say so. If a fix is coming, we need to know.

Right now, Sonos is simply not loading full Amazon Music playlists anymore, and users deserve a clear answer.

Best to call and ask Sonos support about that, this is mainly a user to user forum with a few official announcements and light moderation.

I debugged this (as my own apps are similarly affected), and @comercializado is totally correct.

The Amazon SMAPI service limits playlists to 225 items (for S2). No matter how many the app asks for, the maximum is always 225 and is delivered in chunks of 25 items at a time.

@Sotiris C. could you please add this to the list of fixes to ask Amazon about?

I’ve noticed the same behaviour. I haven’t tested it on S1, but S2 is limited to exactly 225 songs.

Today, 2026-10-04, problem seems to have been resolved. I tried putting in playlists greater than 450 songs with no issues. Others?

I was able to load a 499 track playlist into the queue.  Then stack another playlist by using Add to End of Queue.

It only took at least 14mths then for the Sonos mobile app to finally load Amazon Music playlists correctly.

Well….It's not perfect.  I do wish you could load Amazon Music user playlists larger than 500 tracks.  Yes, I can add to end of queue to my heart's content but it should not be necessary.

The 500 track limit is a Sonos recommendation to all music services in their SMAPI developer documentation. This is related to the 10 second timeout that has been a restriction since time immemorial.

Personally, I’ve never understood huge playlists.  That’s not to say there’s no reason for them, I just don’t know what it is.  At around 3 minutes a song, 500 songs is 25 hours.  First of all, I usually make a playlist for a mood, and I’m never in the same mood for 25 hours straight.  Second, I’m never listening to music for 25 hours straight.  So although having any limit at all is not optimum, optimum is the enemy of good in computer science.  So I understand why Sonos recommends a limit, and I personally think 500 is more than generous (YMMV).

Now, about the oft requested unlimited number of “Favorites” . . . that one is a hill I will die on.

I’m good with around 1,000 tracks for my shuffled Jazz playlist.  That reduces repeating tracks better than just 500.  Lots of good jazz out there.

Apple Music playlists load over 500 tracks.
