Albums and artists in my Apple Music library (on an iMac) are broken up in Sonos to multiple albums and artists with some tracks.  I thought that integrity in my library would be kept in Sonos.  What’s going on?

It is the same metadata, Sonos doesn’t create anything new. However, it may use different fields than your Apple Music application.

Sonos only creates a ‘playlist’ that points to your music collection, it doesn’t modify the files in that collection in any way.

Sonos uses the data stored in the metadata in your music. If there seems to be a discrepancy from what you expect, look to the metadata, not Sonos.

I would expect to see the same break-up in my Apple Music library (and things like that do occur occasionally, e.g., where different artists appear on different songs within an album).

Also, same library, didn’t happen before the app upgrade.  Should be same metadata.

Check to see if there are any “folder.jpg” files in the album folder. Also, I notice that there can sometimes be a lag when fetching the artwork.

Again, my question remains:  why did Sonos make a change in metadata usage in the app upgrade?  I don’t see the benefit.

I know what metadata is, but I don’t understand why it’s my job to care about it when using Sonos (I worry about that when I’m working).
