I have always had the alarm set to play the radio but since i updated the app the alarm will only play the chime alarm even as i have set it to play the radio and it wont play anything else than the chime

Try deleting that alarm, wait 2 minutes, then set it up again, being careful not to use a shortcut to identify the radio station, do a search for it.

IMHO, actual use imparts more knowledge. OTOH, I don’t get paid, so it’s a toss up ;)
How do I search for a radio station? On my ap, I get a screen w 4 pre set choices — the chime and three preset radio options.
