Accessing files in Music Library by *folder*

Hi folks,

I haven't yet taken the plunge to purchase a speaker/s. I use a Marantz currently and its music library accessing by folder from my PC, works fine.

I organise my recordings by folder, subfolder and file name. I don't use, artist, composer, album or any of those options as my meta data isn't too good.

So its a deal breaker for me if the folder option is not available via the app.

Please don't direct me to adding a music library help page...it doesn't discuss this.

I tried to install the app on Android to find out for myself if this works how I want, but it needs a speaker to link to first...which I don't have yet.

Is there anyone out there who uses Sonos App Music Library from their PC that can tell me if this method of access (by folder) works?

That is exactly how it works.  Browse by folder until you get a listing of tracks.  Choose one track to play and all the subsequent tracks are added to the queue.

Yes, you can browse your local library by Folder.

Now the forum has tagged my post, I can see (by search) the Folders option does exist.  Although there seems to be some doubt that it works correctly.

On the Marantz I can navigate eg.

Music>Classical>Beethoven>Symphony5>01 Movement

then 02 Movement etc etc.

If I select the first file in the folder it will play that and the subsequent tracks in the folder.  Can the Sonos App do this?

This sounds a bit anal, but it's how I listen to my music, drama, book recordings etc. If I can't do that I'll stick to my wired Marantz (which drives 2 x 2 speakers)

Cheers

My library is set up a bit differently,  I start out with Music, then an A, B, C... Z set of folders to speed selecting what I want, then Artist and Album with the individual tracks under that.

Usually 3 clicks to get the individual tracks showing, then select one or more to play.

Great.  Thankyou. I now have to consider the cost of moving to wireless.  Need to improve my network first of all.

Sonos doesn't put much of a load on your network, tell us what you have and see what folks here think or suggest.

Remember that Sonos has a limit of 65k songs in the database.
