Did you attempt to scroll along this edge? if you have the Apple Pencil does this help?

I have no proof but I suspect that there could be slightly different versions rolling out over several days -  along with my previous speculation that this issue is tied to screen width.

My Windows system is down at the moment, but I didn’t have issues dealing with a “little” 50K playlist.

When I scroll the ‘songs’ list up or down a very narrow scroll bar appears at the very right had side of the screen.  It is very narrow, and difficult to select with a finger. When you do manage to select it you can scroll up and down the list very quickly , but still no A-Z markings to give an indication of where you are in the list. (My local song list is only about 4,000 tracks).

Yes of course, ive tried scrolling the edge. I’ve also  reinstalled the app and tried it on some of the different iOS devices in my household. All exhibit this issue.

If this was tied to screen width, the problem wouldn’t exist on all my devices using various screen sizes using the current iOS controller. It is only a problem on iOS. Are you saying that the A-Z index appears on your iOS device when selecting the Music Library → Songs listing?

Maybe a font or screen zoom setting?

With so few reports it has to be something most users aren't seeing.

Is this an issue only for the Songs list and the other lists have the index?

Here’s a before and after that I posted on reddit.

Sonos confirmed this was a bug on the Reddit post https://www.reddit.com/r/sonos/comments/1sm3pm5/az_scroll_bar_is_gone/

For me on IOS it’s only Songs.

Yes, that is correct.

All font and screen zooming is at defaults on the iOS devices.

I’ve never looked at Music Library → Songs before checking for this. Maybe most other people don’t either. It’s not a way I would select songs to play, since my library is so large.

If you are looking for a specific song, search is available.

I installed the update that was released earlier today. It hasn’t been fixed.

The “Songs” list is usually the single largest collection on a Sonos system (in Local Library or from a music service), so its not entirely surprising the mobile app has trouble with it - it doesn’t have a great track record in this area.

I tried the Desktop app and there’s no alpha jump there for anything in the Local Library: not sure when that went away.

I tried my own app and alpha-jump is there for everything in Local Library, but that’s not surprising as I don’t use the underlying API (which might be broken now?) and haven’t changed this code in a long time.

  • May 28, 2026

If the alpha-jump was never there on the Songs list, this probably wouldn’t be an issue. But as you can see in the screen grabs from @Butinsho above, it was there and now it’s not. I have no opinion on whether it should be. I don’t use it. The index is there on the andriod app though.

The iOS app still wont play imported playlists either, another bug that Sonos have accepted but not fixed since it started to happen a few months ago. I presume anything to do with use of local libraries gets lower priority than other stuff.

Are the playlists XML?  Just want to understand better.

I presume so - they are smart playlists imported form iTunes

Perhaps I’m not understanding things properly, but aren’t smart playlists from Apple not supported? In this article:

https://support.sonos.com/en-us/services/apple-music

it says ‘Access to Smart Playlists, music videos, and artist posts from Connect are only available within the Apple Music app and are not supported on Sonos.’

I’m a little surprised they’re showing up at all, with or without the ‘sorting’. Does it appear on a non smart playlists?

Always worked absolutely fine until around 3 or 4 updates ago. These are imported from iTunes into the Sonos system via my NAS, remember, not played from Apple music (which I don’t have)
