SO has there been another update which has turned everything to **** again, or is this my own personal hell?

My D:\ is  inaccessible no matter how I try to trick it.

Yeah, Windows 11 and its security updates are maddening.

Windows and their messes are an excellent selling point for simple - single drive NAS boxes. (Network Attached Storage)

Good deals out there that will host your music as well as providing a secure location to back up your other data.

Higher end, dual or more drive, NAS are available but not needed for Sonos use.

Looks like the AI forum spam bot ate my post…

Consider a NAS,.

No link this time to see if this posts but try an Amazon search on "single bay NAS" and you will find inexpensive options.

Personally, I’ve always preferred storing my music on an NAS. This allows the computer to go off on some sort of adventure while music continues to play.

Some routers support USB drives. This would be a minimum power scheme. I’ve never tried this and I’ve read comments suggesting this scheme can be as much fun as your W11 adventure.

USB drive from my router was my original set-up and worked well for many years.

In fact it was a change of router which forced me to abandon.

Then tried PC USB and finally D:\

You’re not really using D:\ right? Sonos devices have no idea about Windows driver letters. You need to use a file share url like \\computername\sharename to do this.

Some screenshots of what you are doing and what problem you are having would likely help.

No, the latter. I used D:\ to illustrate where the files were stored.

Things had been working acceptably since resolving the chaos of 18 months ago. Without warning, I have developed a fresh set of ‘access’ denied type barriers, after some classic 913 shenanigans, without me (knowingly) changing anything. I’m far from an expert but think I’ve tried all of the commonly stated fixes re permissions and sharing.
