The new app shows my named groups, but I don’t see any place to add or remove them? Plus as the Desktop apps have never supported them, that’s not a work-around either.

Found it, well buried. Gears / <name of system> Manage / Groups. Maybe it was there in the old app too? Hard to tell now.
Related: no support for named groups in the web app, can’t even show them.
