Touch ID and the Sonos app: Pad users can add Touch ID to limit access to the Sonos app - the question is how to remove this if you find you don’t want/need this feature. I asked the Sonos help desk who suggested that this feature could be toggled in App Preferences (not in my version - 80.35.8 - it can’t) or in iOS settings for the Sonos app (no, not there either) or the Touch ID section of settings (no, not there) and sadly could not help beyond that. By chance I discovered that a long press on the Sonos app icon on the Home Screen solves the problem as this allows you to enable/disable Touch ID in Options. Perhaps everyone already knew this - if so, sorry for being late to the party!

Interesting discovery. I’ve never even seen it as an option on my iOS devices. I wonder if that’s an Apple iOS setting, and not ‘native’ to the Sonos architecture.  Thanks for posting.

Touch ID is a function of the device. Certain Android devices like Samsung phones and tablets employ it. The iPad mini has Touch ID although not embedded in the display as with Android devices. My iPhone 17 doesn’t employ Touch-ID much to the chagrin of many users. Instead FaceID is used.

Also, Touch ID should not be confused with auto completion of login credentials for websites and Apps. That information is stored in the Passwords Vault (for lack of a better descriptive phrase) by user permission.

The ability to restrict individual app access using Touch ID or Face ID authentication, depending on device, has been around since the release of iOS 18.

A long press of the respective app icon to bring up the option to either enable/disable the feature has always been the case.
