Streaming music to Sonos via UPnP

I want to stream music from my media server to my sonos  Play:1 devices via upnp, but I can't figure out if it's possible or how to do it. I've checked the "Show UPnP Server" option in the app settings, but I can't find any other reference.

Until recently, I had been sharing my music library via samba, but I've found this highly unreliable and would like to move away from it.

I do not use Plex and I do not want to.

If you don’t want to use Samba or Plex, and you have found the DLNA support insufficient, you are pretty much out of options for local file playback.

You could use a PC or a Mac directly: no need to mess with Samba or Plex in that case.

It's not that I've found the dlna/upnp sort insufficient so much as, apart from a checkbox, I haven't found any - or figured out how to use it. I'm assuming the existence of the checkbox means there is support, but I can't use it...
