I suspect many competitors to Sonos would be very excited to get a look at Sonos’ plans for new features. Not that it alters our wondering, but probably tempers Sonos’ desire to post such.
That being said, the roadmap to getting back to ‘equity’ has been listed here, for quite a while.
Thanks for the reply. That link is not a roadmap. It is a list of intentions with uncertain timelines.
I am not saying that Sonos should disclose "new' features, but they should be honest about their deficiency list and a timeline of what will be fixed when.
Being a product manager myself, I sure hope they have this. This would not be considered highly competitive intelligence info but would help current user angst.
Sure would, no disagreement. But having been a project manager associated with code teams most of my life, I comprehend that timelines are ‘fluid’ at best, when dealing with these sorts of things. And the vast majority of users don’t understand that. They seem to assume a date is the equivalent as a promise, and then complain about missed dates, which only adds stress to everyone working to achieve the goal.
Not sating that it would make those of us in the public happier to have such, but I understand why they haven’t posted such, as of yet. But who knows, maybe things are different now, and sometime soon they’ll do exactly as you ask. I don’t know. But I’m certainly not holding my breath, nor am disappointed if they don’t. If they do, it will be a pleasant, and unexpected, surprise.
The real real S2 app was replaced by what we have now, no matter what they call it, if you read back a ways it is pretty much a complete rewrite with many core system changes.
Getting an update that broke things working again is usually pretty easy, getting a replacement using mostly new code and methods working in the first place, not so easy.
Folks are still using the still working bits of the last version of the original S2 app (like me) on older controller hardware that the new app barfs at.

Sonos had a Trello board with a lot of the information you are asking about. They updated it regularly with what they were working on with timelines and TBH I found it useful.
Unfortunately it has been deleted. Sonos promised regular updates while fixing the app, maybe they think it’s fixed and are no longer obligated to update us.
