Any Sonos coders/ app developers on this community?

I don't think there are, no. If they were, I suspect that management would prefer that they not post. Opening up direct avenues of communication isn't often very helpful for software development.
Besides, we software engineers have very little tolerance for the non-technical types who so often publish uninformed rubbish on here. Sonos would not be well served by allowing them to post. 😉
Guilty as charged, your honor. 🙂
Hang on though. I'd love to bend the developer's ears as I have many really simple, trivial and quick software suggestions they could implement like yesterday
Right, because "it's only a couple lines of code!" 😃
While we don't have any developers called out specifically and active here, I do know several that read through forum posts. Also, the community team here shares feedback with development, so if there's something on your mind, let us know and we'll make sure to get in front of the right team.
That isn't a promise that features you're looking for might make it into the app, but they'll at least have the right people see the suggestions.

I'd like to write an arduino or raspberry pi app that just started the radio in a particular room when you pressed a button on it. I have seen the libraries and it looks quite simple. just a case of getting the time and motivation to do it.
Dead simple, if you can get as far as setting up a Raspberry Pi. I like using sonos-http-api (https://github.com/jishi/node-sonos-http-api) for the basis of things like this, and it's convenient to run it under PM2 (http://pm2.keymetrics.io).
