I just upgraded to a Spotify Family Plan. 2 of those accounts are for kids. They each have an ipad with the sonos app installed that connects to a single Sonos network. In other words, the sonos app is installed on multiple home devices that access the same sonos account.

I want to set up each family’s spotify account on their respective Sonos app. But when I login with my Spotify credentials, it only connects to my account.

What am I missing? How do I set them up to access their spotify kids account on the sonos app?

that didn’t work unfortunately.

I just upgraded to the family plan. 3 accounts are configured under it. When i go to sonos to add the service, i login using my spotify credentials. and it works but it authorizes my account and not the others. The other two are kid accounts.

I’ve tried on my desktop and phone apps. I’ve deleted the service and added it again. Same result. I can’t tell what step I am missing.

You need to add each account separately.  Add yours, then kid 1, then kid 2.

@jgatie Right. But how do i do that? I believe the accounts are created. At least they are created on the Spotify side. Again, then don’t show up as options when I go to add a music service in the Sonos app.

As stated, you must add them one at a time to the Sonos app.  Go to Settings > Services > Add a service.  Choose Spotify, then follow the prompts and fill out the first account’s information.

Once it is added, do the exact same procedure for the other two accounts, except you will be filling in their information, not yours.  Then you can choose which account to use by tapping on the account name on the Now Playing screen.

I’ve done the above and only my account shows up and is authenticated. That’s why I am stuck.

When you have added all of the Spotify accounts to Sonos you can choose which account the app connects to by choosing Spotify as a source and choosing the right user from the pull out menu top left on the Spotify page. The Sonos app will remember the account last used. You can do this for every phone.

When I’m connected to my Sonos network again, I’ll check if the other accounts are present.

@ls.js did you ever manage to solve the issue? I just signed up to a Spotify family plan and trying to add the kids account as well. As in your case, I cannot see the kids account as a separate account…

would be great to hear how you solved it! Cheers!

If you've indeed succeeded in adding the kid's accounts, you choose Spotify as a source, go to the account visible. In the app you see the name of the account chosen twice: on the top of the page and a bit to the left. Tap the name of the account and you should be able to choose another.

Hi,

I managed to add 3 of 4 Spotify family accounts to the Sonos app. This was done prior to the latest update of the Sonos app. Now I want to add the 4th Spotify account. Not working.

It goes as far as authorizing the account by opening the Spotify app, then every time it says ”something went wrong, try again later”. Its been like this now for several days.

Please advice.

I just tried adding my family’s separate Spotify accounts (Family Plan) and it errors when I try.  Based on this threads, I feel it is an issue with the new app.  Thoughts?  For now, my kids are stuck using Sonos with my playlists only, which they are not happy about!  :)

I posted my issue a month ago, tried again today, same error. Cannot add the fourth person of the Spotify family account to the Sonos app. EVERY TIME I try, the Sonos app just cannot process the request to authorize the Spotify account, just says ”an error occured”.

Why is this error not fixed yet? I cant be the only person with this problem apparantly given this thread..

Same issue. We have a family Spotify account. As the Sonos system owner I try to add my partners Spotify account. If I go to Your Services > Manage > Spotify > Add a New Account I get stuck in a loop of it reopening the Spotify app with my credentials. I can click Sign Up > then it asks if I have Spotify account, I say yes, and it kicks it back to my own Spotify app again. My speakers now constantly get out of sync but that’s for another post.  Great work on this app, Sonos.

You could delete the Spotify app temporarily then it can’t auto-open that. Once the accounts are set up, install the Spotify app again and log back in.

And speakers won’t go out of sync if you use the grouping screen (ie the screen where you tick the speakers you want to group or ungroup and then press Apply).

I am having the same problem. My husband is the primary member of our Spotify family account. When we updated our WiFi recently and they updated the Sonos app, I had to redo our entire sonos system. When I added Spotify, it added his account. I’ve tried to add mine but I have that same loop someone else mentioned about it not working at this time. I have removed Spotify from Sonos and tried again (always on my phone which requests permission from my personalized Spotify (on our family plan)) and yet it is always his that shows up on Sonos. I’m stuck. I don’t know how else to fix it.

…and I don’t want to delete the Sonos app out of fear that I will have to reconfigure everything again. That was a nightmare I do not want to repeat.

The app is just a remote to the system. Removing it wil not harm the system - but might also not help if the problem you have is caused by the system and not the app.

I have my daughters Spotify account added but when I select it and try and play a song from her Spotify it just hangs on the timer and nothing plays, I can only use my main account to play music on my devices…come on sonos please help sort
