I notice recently when I change the volume My screen on my iPad or iPhone dim slightly for a few brief seconds. Is that normal or if I done something wrong. Thank you

If you mean when the Sonos App ‘volume control’ takes focus, then yes the App in the background fades by design, as shown in the attached example screenshot.
