I have Sonos amps running waterproof speakers in the bathroom / shower rooms which I control with  flic buttons. Ie press the button once and it plays a predetermined playlist. Double press stops the track. Long press switches to another playlist,

Is there anyway to make these playlists play randomly without going into the app. I’d just like the playlist to start on a different track each time rather than hear the same 2 or 3 songs every time ?

thanks

Ok, two paragraphs in, and I realized I was answering a question you didn’t ask.

I don’t think Sonos has either the ability to play randomly across multiple playlists (only tangentially related to your question), or to choose a random starting place when switching between playlists.

Also related, I don’t think Sonos has the ability to remember that any playlist that is not currently in use is ‘randomized’, that’s only a ’while active’ flag. So not only it will start at the beginning each time you change playlists, it also won’t remember that your playlist was randomized (I think…)

My solution, created years and years ago, was to make a single playlist for the bathroom speakers, and just pause it/restart it each time I needed.

Please explain your need with more detail. You’re using Flic buttons but you don’t want to go into the Sonos app? Also are you wanting to stay within the same streaming service like Amazon for example or do you want to move between services?

So there is a flic button in each room that commands the amp(s) to start playing a specific playlist - I know once the playlist is playing, I can go into the app and select random but would like the playlist to start with that random button already selected. That way, every time the flic button commands the amp to start playing, it starts with a different tune.

I don’t believe that you can do this in the flic app, you can only tell it to play a specific playlist that it grabs off Sonos, but was wondering if there’s anyway to automatically randomise a playlist every time they start.

Should also say, playlists are made off my own library.

thanks

None that I’m aware of, in the Sonos system. I don’t use the flic system, so I’m unaware of its interaction, but it would be extraordinary if it supplied additional features.

You might reach out to the flic CS, though.
