I just did the app update on four iOS devices and used one of them to do the firmware update. All devices are now showing system is up to date, but only two of the devices show the new save option. If I save a list on those, it does then show up on the others, so at least I can manage things that way for now. I’m hoping that over the next few days, the other 2 devices will get the new Save option as well.

I encountered the same problem. Deleting and reinstalling the app fixed it on the devices where the feature was missing.

I just tried this, but unfortunately, nothing changed.

That sucks, hope this gets enabled for you ASAP

I also do not have the 3 dots on the queue screen.  App is.  81.00.52-.  All devices are on   build 93.1-73190.  App says I’m up to date.

For the past year, features have been enabled/unlocked in stages around a fortnight period in order to catch any bugs that might have escaped them during beta testings.

Hallelujah, my ‘three dots’ have now appeared on all devices today.

Still find it a really strange strategy to unlock new features [for ‘new’ read ‘re-instatment of features from May 2024’] on a device by device basis rather than by account so users are left in the bizarre situation of some controller devices having the new features whilst others do not - all running on the same system.

I could see a case where ‘we know it works fine on X device, but need to roll it out more slowly to be certain it works on Y devices’…but I’m guessing.

The 3 dots finally show on my iPhone.

After all that , I get the 3 dots. How annoying you can only create new playlists and not update an existing playlist. Having to create new playlists all time is pretty rubbish if you ask me.

i thought Sonos may have finally fixed all my problems that were taken away from me 2 years ago.

i hate how I’m tied into Sonos and how they allowed this to happen in the 1st place. Are there any better alternatives to Sonos?

You can actually add to, edit (change order/remove from) and delete existing playlists... What other functionality are you after?

Hello there,

so I’m playing a saved playlist and I add a couple of new songs to playlist. I then want to save it, so it overwrites / updates the playlist I’m playing . I don’t want a new one?

You can add individual songs to any playlist from the track ellipsis within the queue list... but, you are correct that, at the moment you can not overwrite an existing playlist from the queue without the save new/delete old path.

From your original post I understood you to mean that playlists could not be updated at all... apologies.

In the old App (and also in the Windows PC App), if you choose to save the queue and you enter the name of a playlist that already exists it quite rightly prompts you to say ‘playlist already exists’, and then asks you to confirm if you want to overwrite it or not - a perfect option for updating a playlist.

In my opinion that is a much more user friendly option than the recent ‘3 dots’ update where it will simply create another playlist with a duplicate name without any warning, which you then somehow need to distinguish which is which to delete the old one you wanted to overwrite in the first place.  I do sometimes wonder whether the user interface designers of the App actually use the Sonos system themselves?

Pleae read my post carefully.  Your reference to the Sonos support article does not cover the use case of loading an existing playlist, editing it in the queue, and then saving it back to overwrite the original playlist.  The current offering only allows you to save the queue to a NEW playlist, which if you give it the same name results in a duplicate.  Suggest you see how it works in the PC App, which in my opinion provides far superior user experience for this function.

@RavingDave, Save the queue as a NEW playlist, and afterwards delete the OBSOLETE one. Where is the problem? If you are after a feature request, you’ll have to start a corresponding “Feature Request”-thread.

The problem is replacing a one step process with a less convenient two step process.  Also, I’m not asking for a feature request, I’m asking for pre-May 2024 functionality to be re-instated.

Seriously? You get a new Playlist with the same name as another and aren't asked to overwrite - and people defend this and say ‘Where's the problem?’?

How do you know which one to delete and how the hell do Sonos allow two things to exist with the same name??!!  That's a bug and oversight, not a Feature Request!

The way Sonos control feature-unlock is frankly wrong. I kind of get it for “dangerous” new features, eg how to scan the network, but for Save to Queue? Which is a safe feature that has existed for decades and has always worked in Desktop and 3rd party apps? Nonsense.

If they have to gate long-lost features when they come back, default it to Enabled for everyone, then if it has a problem, Disable it for everyone. Rolling out feature flags the way they are is just confusing for customers (eg this thread) and a waste of everyone’s time.

Well said, I hate the way people try and justify these fixes, that Sonos broke nearly x 2 years ago, yes 2 years

I agree that there should be an option to overwrite an existing Sonos playlist.  What I would do is rename the newly edited queue so I can see which one to delete.

I’ve been attaching dates to mine so I don’t delete the latest version. It works I guess, but it’s weird that this is what they come up with …. after 2 years.
