S2 on Mac AND iPad

I have S2 Controller Version 16.1 build 78151030 on my iPad. When I use the app on my iPad, there appears a message that the iOS version on my iPad is “no longer supported”. However, it works perfectly. That’s good.

On my Mac, I have S2 Controller Version: 16.6 build 83161210. When I attempt to use the app on my Mac, I does not work, but demands that I check for updates. I do not want to update on my Mac because of a long history of Sonos updates causing my system to fail and requiring laborious troubleshooting and repair.

How can I get my Sonos S2 controller on my Mac to work again without risking the failure of my existing Sonos system?

Thanks for helping if you can.

Hi @synsurfandsand, I use the Mac app almost everyday and just last week applied the latest update. Happy to report no issues, as has been the case since the new app was released last May. Your version on your Mac should also have no issues since your speakers already on the 83.x. Firmware version.

If you have no issues now you should have no issues with the latest update.

One thing I would recommend after updating is a complete restart: router/network, speakers and iPad.
