Virtually every time I access my S1 system on my PC it demands an update. A tedious process which can take a number of minutes. This is ridiculous. Surely it doesn’t need updating every 1 or 2 days?

There aren’t that number of updates. Are you sure your update is successful across all of your devices? Have you checked in settings>system>about?

The system may, as the OP suggests, demand an update every 1-2 days. If he never actually updates it.
