We’re having problems with many podcasts from Amazon music that used to work (on S1 systems).

When I try to play This American Life, for example, on an S1 Sonos using the Amazon app, it doesn’t work.  When I look at the Sonos S1 app, I see a pop up dialog saying

Unable to play ‘This American Life’ - the connection to pfx.vpixl.com:443 was lost.

Other podcasts have triggered similar dialogs with “prfx.byspotify.com”, “chrt.fm”, and “www.podtrac.com”.

I’m told these are ad trackers and some form of redirect is required.  Perhaps S1 Sonos cannot handle these correctly?

How on earth are you playing Podcasts on Amazon Music??

This American Life works fine for me on S1 via TuneIn.

The most common reason for streams to fail on S1 is using an unsupported root certificate, or a more recent flavor of TLS. As port 443 is for https, seems likely that is your problem too.

Via Amazon Music app, which was the default for podcasts when requesting from Alexa.

The most common reason for streams to fail on S1 is using an unsupported root certificate, or a more recent flavor of TLS.

I checked 4 cases.  All 4 supported the TLS version and ciphers.  Three had Amazon as the root cert and one had Google Trust Services.

Can you share the URLs?

I was playing on the Amazon Music App and “casting” to the S1 Sonos.  So I don’t have the full URLs.  The hosts above and port (443) were shown by the error dialog on the S1 app.

The Sonos does announce the episode it is about to play, but then no audio.

I verified the TLS version and ciphers using the host and port.

This is the URL of one of the podcast episode pages on Firefox on Mac.  But I don’t know to cast from there or how the app converts that the URL passed to Sonos.

The media stream in the above link is an HTTP/2 stream and I would be surprised if S1 systems support that.
