How can I get information on remotely accessing my Sonos system remotely? I’ve had the need several times now when traveling. It seems possible reading through various threads.
Thanks. Have you been able to use on a mobile device? I am receiving a message saying that my screen size is not supported and then wants me to use the app.
For our information, which model device are you attempting to use. What is its screen size?
I have found the following useful for play.sonos.com. TLDR: you need to access desktop view, and turning your phone landscape helps, too.
On iPhone I’ve done this:
-
Using Safari, login at play.sonos.com and save login info to iCloud
-
Once the page opens, tap Aa on address bar and from menu select Website Settings > Request Desktop Website. Tap Done. (This will load that website as the required desktop version.)
-
Tap on Share icon and tap Add to Home Screen. Give the icon a name.
-
Start controlling Sonos using that Home Screen icon. (Log in if asked, Safari should ask whether to use the stored login info)
Turn iPhone landscape to see a better view.
On iPad, it’s been enough to add the website via the Share > Add to Home Screen. The page layout is fine as is.
I can’t do all actions via the web app but at least can control and search for the music. It has found the speakers more reliably and faster. And the web app seems a bit faster overall on my system.
I haven’t found a similar website-specific mobile/desktop site setting for Chrome. So in Android I’d need to enable that request desktop site for all web pages (… > Settings > Content Settings > Default site view) which I don’t want. So in Android I access play.sonos.com and in Chrome’s menu select Desktop site.
I have an iPhone 14 max. I’ve tried landscape but the web app seems to verify device support before loading the page.

Not sure what you mean but if I do step 2 as I wrote above, Safari will remember and open the web site in desktop mode in the future. It won’t display any errors and opens it fine even in portrait. It will ask to re-login after some time - haven’t paid attention to after how many days. Turning to landscape makes the page much better to use (but can use in portrait as well).

Can you post what the page displays? Is the desktop view setting not working in iPhone 14 Max?
I have iPhone 14 Pro.

I have not. My mobile app works fine and I have not needed to use the web app away from a desktop. The business I’m in has me behind a desk most weekdays
Thank kpr however I cannot even get to that point. I type play.sonos.com into Safari and am immediately told that my screen size is not supported. I have a screen shot however it appears we cannot attach photos in this chat.
Do this:
- Open play.sonos.com in Safari
- Tap Aa in address bar
- Tap on Website settings
- Tap on Request Desktop Website
- Tap on Done
play.sonos.com will open in desktop mode from now on. You don’t have to go to any menu the next time you access. That’s why Safari is better than Chrome for this and any website that works better in desktop view (e.g. goodreads.com).
My earlier instructions show how you can add the website to your Home Screen where you can access it quickly.
You’ll see in these screenshots how the page has loaded the content when I have done step 4. Last screenshot shows the page in landscape.
