I never had a problem playing podcasts on Sonos

My problem was handing off to whatever else I was listening to podcasts on

for example, I would go for a long walk in the morning, listening to a podcast on my phone and when I get home, I wanted to carry on listening on the sonos speakers (originally this was in pre airplay days). 

The other problem (not sonos related) is default podcast players (spotify, apple podcasts etc) aren’t much cop at managing subscriptions and feeds

I was an avid Overcast supporter - but the developer had no interest in Sonos

So I’ve landed with Pocketcasts which syncs across everything really well (most of the time!) and is well integrated with Sonos
