Like many of you I have been suffering many problems since the update in May and on occasions read about ‘improvements’ which I couldn’t see.

Before you decide to chuck it all in frustration, ask your self whether you ever agreed to go on the Beta program, I did probably 6 years ago and forgot.

If you are on the Beta program you are likely NOT getting the correct updates when released!

I discovered this yesterday after nearly 3 hours on the phone to tech support about problems getting access to Spotify, Tidal and some other services through Sonos. They didn’t appear in the list.

Having withdrawn from the Beta program, low and behold, this morning I am now receiving new updates. While I believe there is still much to do to improve the app and get it back where it was, I can already see some improvements which I didn’t have yesterday.

You can remove yourself from the Beta program here

It would seem like a good thing to do in any case since there are so many changes going on and maintaining the Beta program is probably way down the list for Sonos at the moment.

Hope this helps.

Interesting, as I did sign up to a Beta programme many years ago.

However…

I have restored some of the old app features by (paying for) the SonoPhone App. I now have my old playlists from my NAS, but cannot create new ones. A small but worthwhile gain. I recommend you try it, as it’s only a few quid. God knows why Sonos have done this to all their old customers, and still not put it right.

SonoPhone is only available on IOS so not an option for me.

Whether it will ever retrurn to what it was, we can't know but my experience has improved significantly in the last couple of days.

I had a glitch with leaving the Beta program, had to have Sonos go in and poke something to finally clear it all up for the previous update.

Support suggested I wait until at least next Tuesday for the latest update to appear before getting worried as the roll-out should be done by then.

You can also go to the Play Store and check the version offered there to see if the roll-out has gotten to you yet.
