Need iPhone on 2.4ghz to control Sonos S1?

My Ubiquiti Alien Router has two networks set up. One on 2.4 and one on 5ghz because my Epson scanner will only work on 2.4. My Sonos S1 has been really wonky and is “unable to play”. Does my iPhone need to be on the 2.4 network to get my S1 to play. It appears to be so. Please let me know if there is a way for my S1 to communicate on 5ghz so I do not have to keep switching networks on my phone. Thank you.

Some routers don’t pass data between the two bands, so phone on one band and Sonos on another can cause problems (although that is not inevitable).  The easiest way to check if this might be the issue is to wire one of your speakers experimentally to your router (the wire bridges the bands if the router doesn’t).

Please post back either way.  Worst case is that we learn something.
