Hi

i have an MP3 file that i want to play as part of a soundscape in a room with Sonos on loop.

The file has been specially created, and at the moment lives on my laptop.

I would ideally love to play this through Sonos without my laptop.

Any recommendations on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Thomas

If the file lives on your laptop and you want to play it without the laptop, you have a problem. What you’d want to do is copy the file to a piece of hardware (USB flash drive connected to your router, NAS drive connected to your router, some other computer connected to your router), point Sonos to the folder on that hardware that contains the file desired, let Sonos index it, and presto: the file appears in the Sonos app. Here is a useful link.

Any SMB server should be able to host the file for your Sonos.

Most NAS devices wiull do that, some routers offer SMB sharing for a USB connected drive, I use a Raspberry Pi for my music storage.
