Intermittent Apple playlist sync delays

In the last day or two, I have been seeing intermittent delays in syncing Apple Music playlists to the Sonos app’s Apple Music playlist view.   At one point,  it takes hours for a playlist to sync, and, later, it syncs instantly.

Notes:

  1.  This is not related to the Music Library function, which I can’t set up right now, anyway, for unknown reasons.
  2. I have seen these delays with several small test playlists
  3. I have no trouble seeing pre-existing Apple playlists
  4. Spotify playlist and album syncing works perfectly.

Has anybody run into this particular problem and seen the problem fix itself, or been able to fix it definitively?   Comments from Sonos on the reliability of Apple servers are welcome.   Thanks.

Hi @wse106

I’m sorry to hear that you’re having issues with your Apple Music playlists syncing to Sonos. This sounds more like a server issue between Apple and us, rather than a bug or issue with the app. I can’t comment on Apple’s servers, but if this issue doesn’t resolve itself then we’d definitely want to look further into this.

If you adjust your Playlists and they don’t immediately show in the Sonos app, does reauthorizing the Apple Music service in Sonos fix this? You can reauthorize by tapping the account icon in the app, then going to Content Services → Apple Music → Primary Account → Reauthorize Account. If this fixes the issue and has the playlist show immediately then please let me know.

Thanks, Jamie.   The playlists are now propagating properly.   Probably a server issue, as you say.  I tried the reauthorization, but that did not fix the problem at the time.   If I have any further problems, I will post.

Thanks for the update!

I think that’s probably the case where the connection between Sonos and Apple went down, had heavy traffic, or a node was effected somewhere that prevented playlists for immediately updating. That’s further compounded by the fact that reauthorization didn’t help.

Good to hear that it’s working without issue now. If you do run into this again, please let me know
