Would be really nice if Sonos could add an intercom feature to your product, such that you could use your mobile device as a mic and be able to intercom into any area with a Sonos component. this would be a really useful product improvement.

Yeah, looks like iPhone only. Should be built into the base app for both os
I just purchased 5 Play 3's for my business. It is a 5400 sq ft antique mall and I was so surprised to be able to plug these up and get quality sound throughout our store wirelessly. So much better than our old hard wired - muffled speaker system. Now I just need an intercom solution for the Windows desktop.
I have made some prerecorded MP3 sound bites into a play list for general 'we are closing announcements' and such, however, I need to be able to address the store on occasion without having to prerecord- transfer to MP3 and upload to a playlist.
I use the windows desktop to control our speakers system and I NEED AN INTERCOM solution to finally be able to put my old system to rest. Surely there is a way to install a mic to my computer and be able to make announcements through the desktop- sonos speakers.
I have seen suggestions for the Iphone apps but I need something that is reliable, clear, and I can use with my Windows computers. Any suggestions?
I have used the iphone intercom app and it's not 100% its not clear and sometimes it will pause the music but the announcement will not come through.
Any suggestions?

The sonos voice app on iTunes is extremely glitchy. When will sonos have the intercom feature built in?
Try the app "Intercom." I have it on my iPhone - not sure if it's available for Android etc. This app is way better than Sonos Voice, which I have also tried. Intercom's interface is easy to use, it doesn't screw up Sonos speaker connections when you go back into the Sonos app, and playback resumes just a couple seconds after the announcement plays. Highly recommended.
intercom for sonos for the app store works pretty well for what you want
Sonos Voice just release a complete rewrite which works and looks much much better than the old version. It also offers real time intercom ability (which Sonos Intercom doesn't so) and it's significantly cheaper as well.
Would love to see an Android vesion on the Intercom app.

I successfully used this app until it stopped working with the Sonos 9 update. The app was last updated in April 2018, and there was no reaction on my feedback I gave them. Very unfortunate; did Sonos purposely exclude any 3rd party integration such as this?
Sonos typically wouldn't pay any attention one way or the other, in terms of supporting third party apps. It's hard to imagine them sitting around and saying "let's mess with people who like our speakers by purposely breaking integrating with this app".
Well, as we don‘t know which APIs this app actually used, it‘s pretty much speculation. In any case, after checking the respective Sonos APIs, there is (no longer?) a straightforward way to stream real-time audio to Sonos. And actually, the app would always record the full audio, and then playing it back after a second or two. Like adding it to a „virtual“ music library first, and playing it back from there.
