Hi, edamame. I'm not aware of any workarounds, not that I'd be allowed to recommend any if I was. 🙂 Hopefully someone else will chime in with a suggestion.

Check this forum. This is how i managed to use use winamp with Sonos:
https://en.community.sonos.com/music-services-and-sources-228994/a-howto-sonos-pc-speaker-free-with-stream-what-you-hear-6194840

here's what the thread says...
I recently found out, that you can use the "Stream-What-You-Hear",

http://www.streamwhatyouhear.com/

to play your PC-sound on your Sonos-speakers.

"Stream-What-You-Hear" is free, except for possible donations (to make you feel even better).

There is a description by the user "Maik" on how to do it here:

http://www.streamwhatyouhear.com/forums/topic/sonos-is-supported/

I'll post the text below.

I find the solution very simple, and are using it in place of a more commercial solution I used to use.

NOTE: If you don't set a port number (See Maik's Note), you will need to repeat step 2 and 3 each time you restart "Stream-What-You-Hear". I just chose the default port number suggested to me, 5901, and the entire URL ended looking like http://192.168.1.6:5901/stream/swyh.mp3
which is the URL the radio station should listen too.

Thank you for this. Will definately give it a try.
Figured out a few things with sonos software (and they improved it a LITTLE)...but still prefer winamp.
IMHO, sonos should try and buy winamp. They were bought out once and it is now not being sold anymore. Perhaps it was just bought for the technology behind it. It really is leaps and bounds beyond what sonos ap is....simple, easy, versatile and very compact.

Has anyone found a plug-in for Winamp, where the direct audio source can be selected from within WinAmp preferences?
