I have sonos 1 and I want to listen to BBC sounds and it has stopped working. Says I must update Sonos app but I can’t because then it won’t work with my Sonos anymore. What can I do to listen to BBC sounds on my existing speakers?

According to BBC it’s only supported on S2:

Additionally your Sonos account needs to show your location as UK.

Why won’t “it” “work with my Sonos anymore”? What is “it”? How do you know it won’t work? Why won’t you try the update?

Thank you for your reply. If I update the app then it (the app) won’t work with my Sonos because the Sonos speaker I have is a few years old and the app updates are not backward compatible. I know because I have tried. Sonos just want us to buy new ones- but I don’t want to do that because 1. They are expensive. 2. I do not want Alexa. 3. The original speakers that I have (3 of them) still work very well. 4. If I buy new ones there is no guarantee that they will last long enough. I am hoping that there will be away to still use my Sonos to listen to podcasts and BBC Sounds. Other people must also have the same problem

Many older Sonos products do work on S2. You don’t say what devices you own so we can’t comment on compatibility.

That would appear to be a misreading of the BBC site which says that you can do these things on S2, it doesn't say it can't be done on S1.
We regularly listen to BBC sounds on our S1 system quite happily. There may be some limitations that exist - we wouldn't know as we don't have S2.
