Apologies if this has been asked before, but I can’t find a thread which answers my question.

I have a holiday property with a number of Sonos speakers, controlled by some old iphones set in kiosk mode, so guests can use the sonos app (and nothing else).

Whilst this works ok, I prefer to have the app in a ‘logged out’ state, as I don’t want guests fiddling with updates or changing any settings. - this has happened before :-(

The issue I have is with alarms, as an alarm can’t be set without the app prompting the user to log in. - I wondered if there was a work around for this

A ‘guest mode’ with limited functionality would solve this issue, but this doesn’t seem to be an option

It currently isn’t an option, but perhaps a good request.

I think this question has been raised before, - as for the alarm, I can’t really see why a login is required before one can be set.

i must admit, the app is now significantly better since the ‘upgrade’ a while ago, but I find the lack of flexibility a bit frustrating.

What music service(s) are your guests using, and how are they logging in to those services with your old iPhones to get access to their playlists etc? What hapens when the next guest arrives, with previous guests Music Services, playlists and alarms?

If I had a guest home, I would allow the guests to use Bluetooth, AirPlay, Spotify Connect etc to speakers. They can use their own music services, with their own accounts, their own playlists, on Apps they are familiar with.

If they need an Alarm, surely they would set one on their phone(s), as they are familiar with that. You wouldn’t want a guest getting woken up with the previous guests alarms?

There’s no workaround at the moment. Alarm creation requires a logged-in Sonos account, even if everything else is locked down. Your best option is to submit this as a feature request, as a true guest mode with restricted permissions would fit holiday rentals well.

In the meantime, letting guests use AirPlay, Spotify Connect, or Bluetooth and rely on their own phone alarms is the cleanest way to avoid settings changes or leftover alarms from previous stays.

I am using Spotify and BBC as the music services (house has its own Spotify account and set up whilst logged in, then I logged out on each device and set phone in kiosk mode). Guests can search and set up playlists whilst not being logged into the account.

Running on S2, but the devices are older Play 1s, 3s and original soundbar, so Bluetooth and Airplay are not an option, which is one reason why I chose a locked Sonos app on old iPhones.

Now the app has improved, switching to a new system is a lot easier, so they can use their own phones as an option.
