As a user I want to view the current tracks bitrate and codec in real-time so that I can fully understand the different quality my Sonos system is playing.

Don’t you ears let you hear the quality and the differences?

On which service? Deezer has long had an option to view the track format via the controller menus. Amazon now displays a badge on the Now Playing screen.

The only thing that sometimes happens is that the sound level changes with a change in the stream, and since louder always sounds better, people are happy when that happens. When they could have achieved the same result via the volume control slider. If the sound level does not change, no one is ever the wiser unless they see the asked for bit rate.
