Under General Settings - About Your System

Please could the BSSID be displayed for each speaker.

This information is already available under the Device’s Network Settings but having on the About Your System display would make it easier to check for any anomalies when trying to understand possible network issues for Speakers in a Room.

What is being asked for here, the BSSID (Basic Service Set Identifier) is the identifier for the Access Point that the device is connected to.

With a single AP or router with included wifi, you will have just one BSSID, with multiple APs or a mesh system you will have several and seeing which a device is connecting to could be handy.

Good suggestion. Having the BSSID shown under About Your System would make troubleshooting much easier, especially when diagnosing room level network issues. Hopefully the team can consider adding this for better visibility.

Hang on a sec: what kind of mesh system uses multiple SSIDs? Surely the whole point is that you can roam around and stay connected to the same SSID, via different devices.

If you have multiple SSIDs then surely you also have multiple subnets, which is going to break Sonos?

No, you've misunderstood, it's the BSSID being requested (not the SSID) and can be really handy to know for some.  It can tell which you the specific unit/AP a device is connected to.  Handy especially for speakers that move around and can be a bit ‘sticky’ and reluctant to actually roam.

I'm sure this info would be in the diagnostics so is available.

IT Goat, 《giggle》yep, I just had to use this link. Good explanation of the two.

As more mesh and multiple AP networks come on-line the BSSID is going to become more widely known and needed.

Ahah, I wasn’t aware of the term before, I get it now.

In the mean time, as a work around, most network vendors will have an App to manage their devices, and will show a topology of the network and clients connected to each AP, along with other useful info to help diagnose network issues.
