A Sonos user would like to disable the hard buttons on his Sonos devices via the Sonos Controller.

For exemple when he is having a party home he want to avoid his friend to modify the volume level or pause the music.

What do you think about it?

Sonos has already stated that they do not want to allow users to configure button functions (see the long threads about the mute button). Why would they break that rule to accommodate this request?
Right. Now a small sick stray cat that invited himself in thinks there should be some music in the middle of the night so it jumps on a Play 5 and hits Play. Come on Sonos, what's the problem with an extra Prefs setting to switch button functionality off. I can put the white light off, so why not functionality as well.
I don't see any way to do this yet, so I'll add another vote to get functionality to disable the button. The cats turned my Play5 on 4 times since 2am...
With respect to cats, a loud recording of a big dog could be discouraging.

+1, as our 15 month old girl started to "play" with the buttons...
Anybody with children really needs this feature. All UX people make it too easy for toddlers to switch stuff on and off - its too well designed. The buttons just scream "press me" to an inquisitive child.

Also I discovered that my cats have the ability to turn up the sound (and then look at me to solve it)... it would be nice if we could disable the functions. As we can by double clicking can skip to the next song... something must be possible. :?
Glad to hear that other people know how frustrating it is!!

My 3 kids are driving me and the missus crazy.

My 3 kids are driving me and the missus crazy. Also makes them want our phones or iPad to change music if they don't like it.

It's getting hateful now.

Getting wall mounts for the 2 play3s, either that or I may have to physically break the button.
This feature is really needed, for all the reasons stated above. It's a major flaw in the system where children are concerned

If you’ve ever needed to prevent pets or kids from pressing buttons on your Sonos devices, that’s now available under Room Settings.

Looks like an update for this was just released.
This is a crucial feature after the installation of the playbase. It took our 1 year old about 30 sec to realize the volume could be changed and I would have had to return the playbase if this feature was not available. Thank you Sonos for listening to the community and adapting the ux to the real world. Keep doing what you do!
