My Sonos Controller says it needs to update to 10.6 but won't. I'm running latest Mac OS (Catalina) on a imac. System works fine on other devices and lets me update controller on them (Mac and android) but not the imac. Any suggestions? system is a dock, sonos 1 and 3.

Have you rebooted both the router and the Mac? Or, you could delete the app, and download fresh from the Sonos website, just making sure to “Connect to existing system” when prompted.

My guess would be that you’ve got a virus protector/firewall stopping the Mac from reaching the Sonos update servers.

By the way, the dock is no longer a supported device. Updating your Sonos app will cause it to stop functioning. 


Reboot the machine. If the controller still won’t update then uninstall it and re-install from https://www.sonos.com/support
