Hello,
Setting up Sonos for the first time and the app says it needs to check for updates before launching. Once pressed it won’t stop ‘checking for updates’, it does it for hours with no changes. We haven’t been able to use the speakers. I’ve updated my phone, uninstalled the app several times and even tried it on a another phone but the same thing happens.

I’m encountering the same problem right now. Am connecting from Beijing. It was fine when I did the same “checking for updates” from Paris several days ago. Try to contact Sonos via twitter through the link above. Would appreciate anyone from Sonos can shed some light on the problem right here in this forum.
